METRONAMICA - land use modelling & scenario analysis

METRONAMICA is a unique generic forecasting tool for planners to simulate and assess the integrated effects of their planning measures on urban and regional development. As an integrated spatial decision support system, METRONAMICA models socioeconomic and physical planning aspects. It simulates the dynamics of changing land use patterns with the help of a mature model.

Typical application areas:

  • Integrated spatial planning
  • Scenario analysis
  • Impact assessment

METRONAMICA supplies the spatial planner with a tool for interactive simulation, analysis, visualisation and communication of the integrated effects of potential planning measures from today up until 50 years in the future.

A wide range of pre-defined and custom spatial indicators can be calculated on the fly, such as:

  • Socioeconomic developments
  • Urban development in flood prone areas
  • Forested area
  • Habitat fragmentation

Features include:

  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Documented and transparent model
  • GIS compatible, open formats for input/output of geodata
  • Time horizon of up to 50 years
  • Simulation runtime of several minutes
  • Integrated scenario manager for convenient what-if analysis

The standard version includes 2 model configurations - one for local influences (SL) and one with regional spatial interaction (ML). METRONAMICA is developed by RIKS and facilitates and easy integration with DHI modeling tools.
